In a post that she made on her now deleted It’s Not Alright blog, singer Lily Allen has said that she will not be recording any more music… ever. According to the post, she does not plan on renewing her contract with EMI or making a new record.
There have been previous reports that she has wanted to leave music and start a family around the same time that her latest album, It’s Not Me, It’s You, came out.
Allen had started the site to post articles about her views on illegal music downloading. The site hosted a compilation of other artists as well, backing up her position. She has been a very vocal opponent of piracy, saying that it hurts new artists by making it harder for them to get signed to record deals.
There has been a lot of outrage over the site, mainly because of fan abuse and the website Techdirt, who are confused over the mixtapes that she used early on in her career. The tapes were of other people’s work that she was distributing, which the site says is “hypocritical” of the stance that she is taking.
Since then, the entire website has been deleted. On her twitter page, Allen has written that “the abuse was getting too much”.
Allen’s UK rep is saying that she will not be leaving music, but is not writing right now because she is still touring to promote It’s Not Me, It’s You until the end of the year.
Lily is also said to be considering a career in acting.

THANK GOODNESS! Lilly Allen is better known for her late night antics in the press rather than her music anyway
Allen is misinformed on the bigger picture.. Piracy is and will continue to be a gap between all artists in all sectors of entertainment; from music to movies. People will still like what they like and buy what they buy. All entertainers find ways in getting revenue from all aspects of distributing there “talent”. Do what you do and be happy with what you do. That should be enough for all artists.
honestly as an artist myself I can relate to what she is saying but at the same time, In my opinion as an artist I don't think it's about getting signed or making hella money. It's about doing what you love which is making music and writing songs.
